A White Christmas!
Believe it or not, it started snowing yesterday morning about 11am and continued throughout the day and well into the evening. We ended up with about 6 inches while my brother in law in the mountains ended up with about 8 inches. My aunt who lives closer to the coast ended up with almost 10 inches. So of course, we're all pulling out the camera's to document the occasion. I had planned on doing a Christmas decor post regardless, but this time its enhanced by snow!
Christmas Tree (and yes, that is a six pack under the tree -- we keep it classy)
Christmas Night -- also featuring the world's largest front door wreath. Seriously. The thing blocked out daylight.
That about wraps it up for our decor. We put some poinsettias in the fireplace and all the cards we received on the mantle. We can't do things that hang, or are breakable as the cat will destroy it. One day -- we will have a saucily decorated house. But that's not going to happen while we're hosting the cat during his earthly reign.
We hosted Christmas Eve dinner at our house this year because we live three blocks away from my mom's work. My mom works as a oncology nurse and had to work Christmas Eve, so we took the burden off her shoulders and hosted the family here and entertained them with yummy goodness.
Christmas Cookies
Peanut Butter Balls
Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms
Christmas Dinner: Beef Tenderloin with roasted shallot gravy, The Pioneer Woman's green bean casserole (TO DIE FOR) and whiskey glazed carrots, and cheddar mashed potatoes. It was great!
We gorged our self on Christmas Eve dinner. Then gorged ourselves at mom's house for breakfast and dinner on Christmas Day. We marveled at the snow, watched the worst movie ever, took a nap, and then came back here to relax.
It was a great holiday. We had great food, great presents, and got to spend time with loved ones. We hope your Christmas was just as fabulous!
Side note:We're looking forward to the new year -- especially New Year's Day where my brother will be marching in the Tournament of Roses Parade with Western Carolina's (Neil and I both are alumni -- go Gats!)Pride of the Mountain's Marching Band. They're a showtime band -- guaranteed to have air time when making the turn. While we're bummed we couldn't make the trip out there with him -- we're SUPER excited to cheer him on New Year's Day - three hours ahead of time and from the comfort of our own home.
Have a good December everyone!

Roof Sage Part IV
The roofer finally agreed to submit the claim to insurance after making an attempt (half assed, in my opinion, but I'm biased) to get subs into our house to fix the damage.
His insurance company? Not so much on the technology bandwagon. But whatever, they've finally received the pictures of the damage (complete with measurements or said damage) and they've sent us paperwork to sign -- essentially saying if they pay to get it fixed we won't sue them. In a nutshell.
Considering this has taken another two months (really, two months to receive a .zip file and evaluate)? I don't anticipate getting a check until March. At which point our quote to fix all of this will either be a)not valid or b)unable to be fulfilled as god knows where the contractor may be.
*sigh*
All I wanted was a roof that didn't leak.....
