Bathroom Inspiration

Last week I got an awesome wake up call in the form of an e-mail from the DIY Diva letting me know that we won a gift card from True Value to work on any project in our house. We're super excited as we need all the financial help we can get. Also, it's a new year and we're hopeful we can finish the bathroom this year, or at least get it 80% done.

A comment from Sarah at Russet Street Reno about our bathroom floors inspired us to try and refinish the wood floors in the bathroom if possible. I wanted to refinish the floors anyway, and it's going to *hopefully* be much cheaper than trying to put in tile floors. This is all assuming that we're not greeted with multiple gaping holes and rot when we rip them up in a few weeks. So I've been trolling the 'net for inspiration for bathrooms with our needs: wood floors, wainscoting (that we scored for free last year) and a wall mount/console sink that will give me much needed counter space without blocking the air vent -- much like our setup we've got now.

Here's what I've found:

I want a console sink, but the ones I want are anywhere between $1,500-$4,000 and I REFUSE to pay that for a sink. Neil thinks we can build one for cheaper.....we'll see. I also need to find a blue gray paint that is more gray than blue. And tile. *sigh* Tile.

But first, we've got to figure out the floors.

Like your inspirations - and I agree with your hubster - I think you can definitely build them cheaper. Have you been to that warehouse place downtown that sells supplies and remnants for cheaper? You might find some things to make the sink console there.

Love your inspiration pics. I've been pouring over bathroom pictures in my spare time too! Just can't decide on the right tile.

I certainly hope the wood floors are able to be saved! If you have holes around the perimeter, it may be possible to install a new wood plank 'border' all around the room. I just love wood floors in bathrooms!
